WORLD CLASS GROUP LESSONS

“He knows when you’re happy. He knows when you’re comfortable. He knows when you’re confident. And he always knows when you have carrots.” – Author Unknown

Hunter, Jumper, Equitation, Classical and Western Dressage Group lessons

Group lessons are available for youth age 8+ and adults. Group lessons are made up of 2-4 students and are available on your own horse or on an Easy J school horse. To participate in group lessons students must ride in at least one private lesson, to assess their current abilities. Riders must be confident and comfortable controlling their horse on their own in a walk and a trot. For group lessons, riders will be paired with other riders of similar skill level. Group lessons are a great opportunity for students to learn how to control their horse and work in an arena with other horses and riders present.

Beginner group lessons will focus on a variety of variety of horse related skills. During beginner group lessons, students will learn basic riding skills of steering their horse in the walk, trot and canter while other horses and riders are present in the arena. Basic horsemanship such as catching, leading, grooming, saddling their horse, care of their tack and parts of the horse. Basic horse care, including how to recognize lameness, signs of illness and basic treatments are also taught during beginner riding lessons.

Intermediate group lessons will focus on teaching students more in-depth riding and horsemanship skills. Students will have a chance to learn more specifically about different disciplines including hunters, jumpers, equitation, classical and western dressage. As an intermediate student, riders will have an opportunity to lease one of Easy J’s horses. Leasing a horse allows the student an opportunity to practice their riding and horsemanship skills independently so they become a more confident and skilled rider.

Advanced group lessons will focus on refining students riding and horsemanship skills. Students interested in showing will have the opportunity to learn the skills needed to be successful in the hunter, jumper, equitation or dressage show arena. Students that choose not to show will continue to improve and refine their skills in their chosen discipline(s). Advanced students will also have the opportunity, if they choose, to help tiny tot and/or beginner riders learn basic horsemanship/riding skills. Advanced horsemanship skills such as how to manage a barn, how to clip a horse, how to braid mane, care for sick/injured horses and basic skills for starting young horses will also be learned during lessons.

Cancellation Policy –
Easy J requires a 24-hour notice if a student needs to cancel a lesson. Not giving a 24-hour notice or not showing up for a scheduled lesson will result in the student being charged the full lesson fee prior to scheduling the next lesson. We have a great covered arena available to use during wet or hot days, if a lesson needs to be cancelled due to the weather the instructor will contact the student.
